The first generation Honda Jazz was sold in five variations depending on the region. All these models were either equipped with a 1.2L, 1.3L or 1.4L 8-valve i-DSI engine or a 1.4L, 16-valve VTEC engine. All these engines were combined with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic or continuously variable transmission (CVT).
With the success of the first generation Jazz, Honda has plans to roll out a more advanced model called the Next Generation Honda Jazz. Even though, the design of the next generation Honda Jazz is similar to the existing model, it has certain improved features.
The new Honda Jazz has been designed as a marginally bigger version than the current version so as to provide more space inside. In the next generation Honda Jazz, the length would be increased by 5cm and the width by 2.5cm. The next generation Jazz is equipped with a revised version of 1.3L i-VTEC engine that would produce a power equal to 73kWs. Another feature that has been addressed in the revised version of Jazz is fuel consumption. It is assumed that the Honda Jazz next model would require 4.1 liters of fuel per 100 Kms, a consumption that could match that of Toyota Prius and Honda Civic Hybrid.
The new Honda Jazz is expected to make its first public appearance at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2007.
